The Viewfinder Photographic Society’s (VPS) annual photography exhibition in Skidby gets underway once again at the end of September and this year will pay tribute to one of its founding members by introducing a special award.
“It seems only fitting that we recognise Peter’s enormous contribution in helping to create what has become such a friendly, thriving club” said David Marshall, VPS Chairman. “As well as a gifted photographer, Peter was a school teacher and passionate about helping others learn and improve and this is why the club has been such a success. Creating the Peter Smith Award is our way of recognising his legacy.”
Tickton and Hull Bridge
Outdoor Session: Monday, 29th August 2016 (7.00pm - 9.00pm)
For our last summer, outdoor session on Bank Holiday Monday, we'll be exploring Tickton and the surrounding area, which includes access to the banks of the River Hull and Storkhill Wood nature reserve.
The village of Tickton was one of the earlier 'water towns' of Beverley and in the 20th century, greatly expanded as a dormitory for Beverley and Hull. It stood on the chief road giving access to Beverley from Holderness, crossing the river by what was once the only bridge between Kingston upon Hull and North Frodingham. Beside the crossing, the hamlet of Hull Bridge was established in the 18th century.
Suggested meeting place: outside the Crown & Anchor, Weel Road, Tickton HU17 9RY.
